masullas

Masullas is a town in Alta Marmilla with about 1,111 inhabitants.

It borders with the towns of Gonnoscodina, Gonnostramatza, Mogoro, Morgongiori, Pompu, Simala, Siris and Uras. Masullas is located nearby hills that act as protection from the winds, in particular from the mistral wind which frequently blows from the nearby western coast. It is easily reachable, being located about seven kilometers away from the State Road 131, from the junction for Mogoro, or from the junction for Uras-Laconi.  The town counts on ancient history, however its foundation  is difficult to date. Many scholars speak of Masullas as a center of passage initially: many of the wayfarers who went from Campidano inland stopped and formed “masones” (refuges for wayfarers), hence the name of Masullas. Even this historical legacy appears consistent with the analysis of the current situation of the town which, even as of today’s date, is configured as an obligatory stopover for those who, from Marmilla and Monte Arci, find themselves having to reach the SS 131 in the direction of Oristano (province capital city). The territory of the town has an area of 18.9 sq km and a perimeter of 24 km.

It is between 81 and 409 meters above sea level. The overall altimetric excursion is equal to 328 meters.
