POMPU
In March 2023, archaeological excavation work resumed in the Nuraghe Santu Miali on the border between the municipal territories of Pompu and Morgongiori. This archaeological work aims to implement the scientific knowledge relating to the lifespan of the building, furthermore allowing the execution of the consolidation and restoration operations of the walls of the nuraghe in precarious conditions of conservation, and promoting the use and valorisation of the monument, enabling access of the courtyard through the reopening of the original access to the bastion.
The nuragic complex of Santu Miali of Pompu includes the remains of a four-lobed nuraghe made of light sandstone – divided into a central tower surrounded by four secondary towers connected by curtain walls – and a village of huts enclosed by a barricade. To the south of the central tower extends a vast open-air courtyard with a kidney-shaped layout.
